Police intervened by using pepper spray against a group of demonstrators in Saraçhane who organized an unauthorized protest to denounce the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu and threw stones and incendiary materials at the police.
THREW STONES AND TORCHES AT POLICE
A group gathered in front of the Bozdoğan Aqueduct in Saraçhane to protest the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu within the scope of the ‘Corruption’ investigation initiated by Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, threw stones, torches, bottles, and incendiary materials at the police officers who took security measures.
POLICE INTERVENED WITH PEPPER SPRAY
There were occasional scuffles between the group wanting to march and the police officers. The police warned the demonstrators to disperse. However, when the warnings were not heeded, the police intervened using pepper spray.
